Theatre of the Oppressed Festival

Many amazing tools have been developed and we want to learn, teach and share them. To improve our work and inspire others to use these methods we have the focus on the knowledge exchange between many experienced worldwide organizations.

Since 2008 Formaat is part of E-motive – a matchmaking network of organizations around the world, aimed at sharing innovative social solutions to global and local problems. Within this framework, we have conducted exchange programs with Jana Sanskriti from India, CTO Maputo from Mozambique, Combatants for Peace from Israel and Palestine. These organizations use the method Theatre of the Oppressed (TO) as a basic tool and instrument for social change and dialogue. All in a different context, on various topics and in various variations of the method developed by the Brazilian Augusto Boal.

Apotheosis of this longstanding cooperation we bring these groups together during the upcoming festival.

During the festival you will have the possibility of experience workshops lead by each of these groups as well as see their performances live and participate on it. Many other workshops will be also provided. We would like to promote the opportunities for informal learning and contact, by creating spaces where participants and organizations can share knowledge, ideas and dreams.
