Master class with Geo Britto
Escola de Teatro Popular
“Escola de Teatro Popular-ETP” – founded by Geo Brito and Julian Boal in 2017, has today dozens of collaborators that work in 7 different groups, operating in various places with diverse social movements (syndicates, residents associations of “favelas”, universities and cultural centers situated in the suburbs. What they do is to use Theatre of the Oppressed and other forms of political theatre to look for real transformations, in a collective manner.
The Master class is based on the methodology of Theatre of the Oppressed, developed by Augusto Boal, that is successfully spread in more than 70 countries and has shown a great impact in communities. We will look critically at this methodology and explore it further, with new techniques, exercises and games that have been researched in the work that the School of Theatre of the Oppressed from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, has being developing, in collaboration with many social movements (internationally and locally).
