Legislative Theatre in Manchester (UK)
First British session of the Youth Parliament

Between November 15-20, 1999, curingas from Rio introduced Legislative Theatre at the Contact Theatre in Manchester. Julie McCarthy told us: "The event went very well. CTO worked with 4 groups of young people for 2 hours a day over 5 days. On Saturday, the groups presented pieces to be formed and we also held a legislative session. Laws were proposed and passed on provision for young homeless people, anti gay/lesbian hate crime, buses with wheelchair access and many others. The 4 groups enjoyed the experience very much, and at least two of the groups will be carrying on."
